During the bleak and unforgiving times of M38, among the Ash Waste Nomads, the story of House Orlock began. Olandus Orlock, considered prosperous among the duster clans, unwittingly set the stage for their legacy. In 003.M38, a relentless duststorm forced Olandus and his family to take shelter in an ancient wreck, unknowingly stepping into destiny.
Inside the seemingly derelict vessel, Olandus Orlock discovered valuable archeotech, sparking his quiet accumulation of wealth over the years. With newfound resources, the House began to grow in power.
Within the confines of his ancient wreck, Olandus brokered alliances with minor clans such as Kamund, Cinderjack, and Merdena. Together, they waged a relentless road war against the formidable House Orlund. The wastelands echoed with the clashes of these mighty houses for decades.
As House Orlock and House Orlund continued their bitter feud, the tides of power began to shift. More influential houses like House Vosak and House Eschaki sided with the Orlocks, further tipping the scales. In a shocking twist, Kaylana Orlund, youngest daughter of Vetrix Orlund, secretly wed Olandus’s eldest son, Kavar Orlock, leading to the birth of the House of Iron.
Despite their growing influence, by the end of the 38th Millennium, Orlocks had grown complacent. In the early M39, a rebellion erupted, fueled by crushing production quotas, excess, and unreliable security forces. The uprising quickly gained momentum, and other houses seized the opportunity to exploit Orlock’s vulnerability.
Amid the chaos, a third faction emerged in the Crucible Schism. Avor Orlock, a young wasteland settlement founder, rallied rebels to his cause with the creed ‘Gang Before House, House before the rest.’ With the help of Rei Merdena, a rebel leader, they quelled the rebellion from within. Avor became the new Lord Orlock, ushering in a new era guided by the Code of Iron.
By M40, House Orlock found itself locked in a bitter rivalry with House Delaque. This rivalry reached its zenith in M41 during the notorious Ashline Heist, where Orlock gangers hijacked a mag-lev ore shipment deep within Delaque territory.
In response, House Delaque imposed a blockade on Orlock mining operations. However, the vast and scattered mining holdings of House Orlock made the blockade ineffective. Ultimately, the Lord Helmawr intervened, ruling in favor of House Orlock in the Drypus Incident, further solidifying their power.
The history of House Orlock is a tale of resilience, cunning alliances, and enduring rivalries. From their modest beginnings to their resurgence after the Crucible Schism, House Orlock’s legacy continues to shape the fate of the underhive.
