At its heart was the tragic fall of Horus Lupercal, the revered Warmaster and beloved son of the Emperor. Corrupted by the insidious whispers of Chaos, Horus turned against his father, sparking a cataclysmic civil war that tore through the galaxy. Half of the primarchs and their legions, seduced by the promises of power, joined the Traitor’s cause.
A Galaxy in Flames
For seven relentless years, Horus pressed his malevolent campaign towards Terra, the Throneworld. The final confrontation unfolded, leaving Terra scarred, the Emperor mortally wounded, and dreams shattered. The toll was astronomical – 2.3 trillion lives extinguished, and countless worlds purged in the aftermath.
Legacy of Suffering
The aftermath birthed the present-day Imperium, scarred by the Second Founding and reorganized under Roboute Guilliman. The Traitor Legions were cast into the dreaded Eye of Terror, and the Space Marine Chapters emerged anew. Yet, the legacy of the Heresy remains veiled in myth, distorted by the passage of ten millennia.

It means they’re smaller than those featured in Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. This allows players to deploy a greater number of units, enabling them to recreate the immense clashes of the Imperial civil war right on their tabletop. Pledge allegiance to either the Emperor or the Warmaster, engaging in battles that will determine the destiny of the war-ravaged Imperium and the entire galaxy.
