Get to know our Painters – Interview with Ewa

This is another post from the series of articles in which you will have opportunity to get to know our team.

Today we want to introduce you to Ewa. She is one our Painters! Without further ado we’re going straight into the interview! 😀

Do you remember your first figurine that you painted? What are your memories associated with it?

The first figures I painted were Tyranids, specifically Termagants. I have a kind of bittersweet memory of them. Sweet – because it was my first project and I was learning many new things while doing it, and bitter – because it gave me a lot of difficulties. However, looking at these figures from a time perspective, I see how I managed to improve my craft and this fact really motivates me for further work 🥰

Which of the painted figurines (that stood out to you) brought you the most joy during the painting/creative process and why?

The one that has stuck with me the most and was the most fun to paint was Magnus (Primarch). This was my first display-level project and I was able to show off my acquired skills without major limitations. It was also the first model where I tried to include three different light sources falling on the model.

What are your favorite painting techniques, and how do they influence your artwork?

I really enjoy working with high contrast and intense colors. Therefore, my most frequent painting companions are washes and fluo inks. Additionally, in brushwork, I really like when you can see its strokes. Lately, I have also been trying to use somewhat non-obvious color combinations, which I hope makes my work look more interesting ☺️

If you could paint any model without time constraints, what would you choose?

I think I would most like to paint Magnus (the one after the transformation).

Do you draw inspiration from specific artists? Whom do you follow on Instagram?

I don’t really get inspired by specific artists, I more often just use a magnifying glass on Instagram hahaha, but there are a few accounts that I follow, for example: njm_marcofrisoni, el miniaturista, craftworldstudio, lacikmaj, jero_miniatures.
