Ahsoka, Bo-Katan and Clan Kryze Mandalorians in Star Wars: Shatterpoint
Hello everyone!
We know that you’re waiting for the upcoming Star Wars: Shatterpoint and we are here to meet your expectations! In this series of articles we will describe every Strike Team that will come to this new Skirmish Game.
Today we will go with Ahsoka Tano and her friends – Bo-Katan Kryze and Clan Kryze Mandalorians!
Ahsoka Tano, Jedi No More
We will start with Ahsoka herself!
In terms of abilities Ahsoka has abilities that punish your opponent for even trying to attack you. What’s the Matter, Too Fast for You? gives you protection of damage when defending against melee attacks which greatly improves her toughness. In advance this ability can payback, dealing damage equal to protected wounds. Another ability that gives you some utility after attacks is Fierce Protector. After a friendly unit is Wounded, Ahsoka may perform an advance and then heal or attack the enemy unit. Ahsoka also shares Deflect ability with Anakin, which we have described in a previous article.
In addition Anakin has an ability to make a Force Speed (additional moves are always good in this game as you want to move around the board rather than stay at one place).
9 Stamina and 3 Durability means that you will need to take 27+ damage to become defeated, but her abilities can extend this to even more.
Now we need to talk about her Stances as this is an important thing for the Primary unit.
Jar’Kai is a more aggressive stance, providing 7 dice with melee attacks, but exposes Ahsoka a bit with only 5 defense dice. After an attack, if you score 5 Hits you will deal 8-9 Damage, which is enough to wound most of the Secondary and Support units. In addition Ahsoka in this stance can give your opponent condition tokens such as Pinned, Strained or Unarmed as well as perform Push.
Form V Shien Reverse Grip is a bit more defensive stance. Ahsoka increases his defense dice pool by one to two, at the cost of reducing her melee potential by one die. In addition, she has better conversions when defending. When scoring 5 hits she can deal 4-8 damage, but her Combat Tree has more utility options. In this Stance Ahsoka can heal herself or his allies as well as Push/Jump or Disarm an opponent.
Bo-Katan Kryze
Bo-Katan Kryze, long-term companion of Ahsoka, is her dedicated Secondary Unit.
Bo-Katan comes with a cost of four points and a lot of utility abilities. After she activates he can target another Mandalorian Unit you control to perform a Jump due to Pride of the Mandalore. And remember that Mandalorians are Stronger Together, so when Bo-Katan ends her move action in Range 2 of another friendly Mandalorian she can perform a free Focus action. She believes that Mandalore Will Survive and her determination is represented with an ability. After a Focus action, she can perform a Dash or Heal herself or her allies. Icing on the cake of her synergies is Some of Us Serve a Higher Purpose. Allied Mandalorians (including herself) in Range 3 are even better in holding objectives as they take less damage and are harder to be Pushed.
Bo-Katan Kryze is good at chasing objectives and enemies herself with her Jet Pack ability!
8 stamina and 2 durability means that Rex needs 16+ damage to be defeated.
In terms of Stance Card, Bo-Katan’ Close Support offers 6/7 attack dice and 4 defense dice. Scoring 5 hits allow her to deal 6-8 damage as well as Push/Jump and give your opponent Pinned condition.
Clan Kryze Mandalorians
Last unit in today’s article is Clan Kryze Mandalorians – subordinates and “family” of Bo-Katan .
This unit is made of 2 miniatures and comes with a Point Cost of 4. They share Mandalorian are Stronger Together and Jet Pack abilities with Bo-Katan. Unique Ability for them is Helmet Visor. It allows them to shoot with 1 additional die when they’re focused.
7 stamina and 2 durability means that your opponent is obligated to deal at least 14 damage to them, before they will be defeated.
Their Stance Card, Skirmish Tactics, is also quite good. After scoring 5 hits you are able to deal 6 damage to defender, Push him and provide conditions such as Pinned or Disarm. Their melee defense isn’t good so you want to keep distance from your opponent’s melee fighters and harass your opponent from a distance.
Thank you for reading today’s article and see you in the next one, where we will cover Obi-Wan, Cody and 212th Battalion Clones.
