Luminara Unduli, Barriss Offee and Clone Commandos in Star Wars: Shatterpoint
Hello there!
This is the series in which we explain how certain units from Star Wars: Shatterpoint work!
Today we will go with the compassionate Jedi Master Luminara Unduli and her Padawan as well as Clone Commandos accompanying them, which are included in the Plans and Preparation Squad Pack.
Jedi Master Luminara Unduli
Unit Card
Jedi Master Luminara Unduli, a wise protector in the army of the Grand Republic took her place in Star Wars: Shatterpoint, filling a role of utility Support Primary Unit.
Full Recovery is a powerful ability that lets you heal all damage and conditions from one of your units in range 3. With a wise usage of this ability, you may provide your carrying units such as Anakin Skywalker with a great survivability potential.
Another, much more complex ability is Flow of the Force. Balanced between aggression and defensive values, this ability allows you to perform different actions depending on circumstances. When an enemy unit becomes wounded one of your characters can perform a Dash. This may be useful either to take control of an active objective or to hide behind cover. On the other hand, when one of your units becomes wounded, another allied character may Heal [3]. It’s worth noting that both abilities are “global” which means they don’t require any specific range to work. Third effect of Flow of the Force allows you to look at the top card of your Order Deck before choosing to activate a unit from reserve. It’s opening up many tactical choices!
Two of her other abilities are Sprint that gives you a Dash in cost of Force Point(s) and Precise Strike that gives your Supporting unit a Dash or additional attack, depending on the location of their order card.
Stance Card
Form II Makashi is a bit more aggressive stance in which you have a slightly better attack expertise chart. 1-8 damage are supplemented with a lot of repositions (move, triple push and jump)
Form III Soresu is her defensive/supporting stance. Bigger amount of defense dice in ranged attacks and a much better defense expertise chart buffs her resilience. 1-6 damage is supplemented with some choices such as Heal [2-5], Pinned condition, Push and Jump.
After all, Luminara pairs well with Obi-Wan to build up a tough Bastion Strategy or Mace Windu / Anakin if you need an aggressive character in your Strike Team.
Barriss Offee, Jedi Padawan
Unit Card
Luminara’ Padawan, Barriss Offee, represents good use of the Force with abilities such as Force Push which we already know from Asajj Ventress and Force Speed that gives her additional Advance during her activation for the cost of Force Point(s).
Her other abilities make her a quite unique character and here we will stay a bit longer. Slip Away lets her disengage from tough situations after another friendly unit targets a unit engaged with her with an attack. After all, Barriss gains a Hunker Token. What a diversion!
Faithful Padawan is a complex ability such as her Master’ one. Whenever she is engaged in the same melee fight with one of your Jedi Primary Units, both your characters have 2 additional Attack Dice. It can be a great buff for characters such as Mace Windu that can hit pretty hard. Another part of this ability allows her to perform a kind of Heal [2] using her recovery action. After she Heal herself or another allied unit in range 2 as a part of recovery action, she can also remove 1 damage or condition from an allied unit in range 3.
Stance Card
Learning from her Jedi Master, Barriss also uses Form III Soresu as her fighting stance. 1-6 damage supplemented by a lot of movement, Exposed Condition and Activating an ability for free is a good stance for a supportive/control secondary unit.
Republic Clone Commandos
Unit Card
One of the best Clone Supporting Units – Clone Commandos – was a huge buff for Grand Republic forces.
Sharing Brothers in Arms and Defensive Maneuvers with their brothers, RCC have sort of additional abilities.
Their Coordinated Fire ability increases the aggressive potential of the whole Strike Team, tossing damage tokens here and there.
Ascension Cables highly increase their mobility. It’s worth noting that if you change both dashes from Defensive Maneuver into climbs you will not receive hunker token. Icing on the cake is Commando Armor that gives them protection, reducing incoming damage.
Stance Card
Commando Training gives them balanced stats in both attack and defense. 2-8 damage with conditions such as pinned and strained make their combat tree fair.
To sum up, Clone Commandos are a good equivalent for 212th Clone Troopers, depending on what you need in your Strike Team.
In summary, this squad provides you with brand new options for your Republic Strike Teams, including one of the best supporting units for Clones strategies.
