So, the Leagues of Votann are pretty new faction in Warhammer 40k universe, and they’re not quite like anything else in the most popular wargaming setting.
They are ancient human-like (more or less space dwarfs) explorers, but they’ve been out in the galactic core for so long they’ve become something new: the Kin. They’re a tough, pragmatic bunch, holding onto secrets older than most empires, and all about resourcefulness and sticking together.
In this showcase we present you a Leagues of Votann army painted up in a special, frosty aesthetic.
We recently finished up this commission and it’s a perfect window into unique vibe of this faction.
Meet the Kin: A Closer Look at Painted Leagues of Votann Army
The Triumvirate of Command: Ûthar, Champion, and Kâhl
Every good crew needs its shot-callers. Here we have Ûthar the Destined – a big name among the Kin, said to carry their ancient smarts and some mysterious grand plan.
He have a serious company: Einhyr Champion, basically a walking fortress in that hefty exo-armour, and Kâhl – a sharp, experienced leader who knows how to get the Kin to their target and grab those all-important resources.
The Voice of the Votann: Grimnyr of the Leagues
Want to know what the ancient Votann Ancestor Cores are thinking?
Grimnyrs aren’t typical psykers; they’re more like living links to old machine minds, figuring out what the Votann are trying to say. They use some cool Barrier-Tech, hang out with their CORV robots, and are pretty much the Kin’s direct line to ancient wisdom.
Forging the Future for the Leagues of Votann: The Brôkhyr Iron-Master
The Brôkhyr Iron-Masters are those responsible for all cool tech that LoV are using. These guys are the top mechanics and inventors, holding onto precious secrets and making sure all the Kin’s gear – from the magna-rail rifles to the Land Fortress engines – is in tip-top shape. With their Ironkin helpers, they’re the ones keeping the war machine running smoothly.
Echoes from the Deeps: Cthonian Beserks
Not every Kin gets shiny armour and a spot on the frontline. Meet the Cthonian Beserks – these tough guys are miners first, used to risky work deep underground to get the resources the Leagues of Votann need. When trouble starts, their heavy-duty digging tools become seriously nasty weapons.
Leagues of Votann Ground Troops: Hearthkyn Warriors & Hernkyn Yaegirs
Every Leagues of Votann crew needs their basic infantry, and that’s the Hearthkyn Warriors. Decked out in void armour and carrying dependable Autoch-pattern bolters and ion blasters, these cloned troopers are the heart of any Kin defence or attack.
Then you’ve got the Hernkyn Yaegirs from the Kill Team box – these are more independent types, the scouts and survival pros who sneak around enemy lines, grab intel, and hit ’em where it hurts.
The Unstoppable Advance: Einhyr Hearthguard & Brôkhyr Thunderkyn
Need to bring the heavy infantry to the battle? The Leagues of Votann have the Einhyr Hearthguard for that. These Kin are wearing massive exo-armour, turning them into the Kin’s top-tier wrecking crew.
The Brôkhyr Thunderkyn can be seen with Hearthguard often, strapped into hefty exo-frames lugging huge guns like graviton blast cannons that can just rip through enemy lines and tanks.
They are the perfect combination of close to mid range combat, with supportive heavy firepower.
Swift Scouts of the Leagues of Votann: Hernkyn Pioneers
For fast moves and finding out what the enemy’s up to, the Hernkyn Pioneers are the best choice. Fast and reliable Magna-Coil bikes, are great for fast maneuvers. They’re the Kâhl’s scouts, usually the first to spot trouble and the quickest to jump on an enemy mistake.
Armoured Might: Hekaton Land Fortress & Sagitaurs
When it comes to raw power on the field, the Hekaton Land Fortress is king. This beast is the Kin’s main tank and troop carrier, built to take a beating and dish one out with its massive magna-rail cannon or SP heavy conversion beamer.
The Sagitaur ATVs on the other hand are smaller ground vehicles with rocket launchers and mid range weaponry. They are great on their own with speed and scouting possibilities, but with the Land Fortress they make a great pair: heavy firepower with fast support.
