4 Unique Emperor’s Children Painting Ideas: Custom Scheme Showcase

The Pursuit of Perfection: 4 Ways to Paint the IIIrd Legion

Fulgrim’s sons are obsessed with perfection. But perfection can take many forms.

For some, it’s the flashy pink of the Noise Marines. For others, it’s the regal purple and gold of the pre-Heresy era. And for the truly unpredictible, it’s something completely unexpected.

Choosing a scheme for the Emperor’s Children is a challenge because the lore gives you so much freedom to be excessive. To help you find your own path, we’ve gathered five of our favorite commissions. These projects show just how diverse the IIIrd Legion can be.

Visions of Excess: 4 Ways to Paint the Emperor’s Children

1. The Golden Demon Standard

We start with a point of pride for our studio. Our painter, Emily, earned a Golden Demon pin with a specific, stunning color scheme.

We took that award-winning formula – a unique blend of desaturated purples, bone-white armor panels, and striking Non-Metallic Metal (NMM) – and applied it to a full army, which is in progres now.

This is a massive flex for a collector: fielding an entire force painted to a standard recognized by the highest judges in the hobby. It looks elegant, lethal, and undeniably perfect.

2. The Endless Cacophony: Pink Armor & Bestiarium Beasts

Sometimes, excess simply means more.

For this massive project, the client wanted to lean into the corrupted, daemonic nature of the legion. We painted a huge army in the classic, vibrant Slaaneshi pink.

To make the army different from others, we added highly detailed 3D printed models from Bestiarium Miniatures. These twisted, fleshy sculpts blend perfectly with the bright armor. It creates a disturbing contrast between the candy-colored power armor and the horror of the daemons. This army demands attention from across the room.

3. Refined Tradition: The Box Art Variant

We all know the classic scheme: deep darks, shining gold trim, and purples. It’s iconic for a reason.

For this commission, the client loved that classic look but wanted it… a bit better. We kept the core identity of the box art but pushed it a bit further.

It feels familiar, yet distinctly superior to the standard studio paint job. It’s the legion as you remember it, looking its absolute best.

4. A Twist of Envy: Green Fulgrim & Lucius

Who says the Prince of Pleasure only loves pink and purple?

This project was born from a desire to break every rule. We painted the Primarch Fulgrim and his champion Lucius in a striking, toxic green scheme.

It completely changes the vibe of the models, shifting them from “regal duelists” to “venomous monsters.” This acts as a perfect example of how a simple palette swap can reinvent a character’s entire presence.

What Is Your Vision of Perfection?

Perfection is subjective. You might crave the award-winning elegance of our Golden Demon scheme, the sheer shock value of the toxic green, or the overwhelming mass of a daemon-heavy force.

The Emperor’s Children allow for more creativity than almost any other legion. The only sin is being boring. Your army should reflect your own taste for excess.

Whether you want to stick to the lore or create a custom color palette, we have the skills to execute it.
