Our Best Painted Miniatures of 2026 (So Far)
Welcome to 2026, fellow Wargamers! It has already been an incredible year for the Minis for War studio. From massive Nurgle centerpiece monsters to fully customized, lore-breaking kill teams, we’ve had the absolute privilege of bringing some truly wild tabletop visions to life over the last few months.
If you are looking for inspiration for your next big project, or you just want to see the top-tier quality our painters are capable of, you are in the exact right place.
Grab your favorite hobby beverage, settle in, and let’s take a look at some of the best painted miniatures to come out of the studio so far this year!

Maggotkin of Nurgle – Spreading the Rot in Style
Grandfather Nurgle has all the time in the world to spread his gifts, but you probably have a 9-to-5. When looking back at some of our best painted miniatures of the year, this heavy-hitting Maggotkin project instantly comes to mind.
The Glottkin, Bloab Rotspawned, and the Harbinger of Decay
We pushed these three generals to our absolute highest display standard. Nailing that perfect, disgusting rot without the models just turning into a muddy, undefined mess takes hours of intense focus. We made sure every rusted blade, gross mutation, and grinning Nurgling got the exact attention it deserves.
Centerpieces like these are amazing to own and completely dominate the tabletop, but they are also incredibly intimidating to tackle. Staring at three huge, unpainted blocks of Nurgle plastic after a long day of work is a quick way to kill your hobby motivation. We take that burden off your shoulders so you can bypass the grey plastic phase and just enjoy the game.

Horus Heresy Salamanders – Forged in the Fires of Nocturne
When it comes to massive army commissions, this Horus Heresy Salamanders legion is undoubtedly one of our absolute favorite projects of the year. Capturing the essence of the XVIII Legion means mastering the balance between their signature emerald armor and the scorching heat of their volcanic home world.
Painting Vulkan, Leviathan Dreadnoughts, and Glowing Lava Bases
For this massive undertaking, we wanted the bases to do as much heavy lifting as the models themselves. We implemented an intense Object Source Lighting (OSL) effect, where the glowing magma reflects directly onto the boots, tracks, and armor panels of the entire army. From the towering Leviathan Dreadnoughts and heavily weathered tank division to the Primarch Vulkan himself, every single miniature looks like it’s marching straight through a volcanic eruption.

Ork Speed Freeks – A High-Octane Waaagh!
Safety belts are highly un-Orky. The local Mekboy built this motorcade with maximum speed and zero regard for passenger safety. A massive Ork motor pool is incredibly fun on the table, bringing a chaotic, high-octane energy straight to the game.
Painting Ork Vehicles, Warbikes, and Deffkoptas
For this project, we handled a huge convoy of scrapped and looted rides, giving the entire mob a consistent, battle-ready finish that looks perfectly prepared for a wasteland demolition derby. The striking red armor pops beautifully against the dark, grimy industrial bases.
Running an all-vehicle list is an absolute blast, but building and painting dozens of individual chassis, tires, engines, and rotor blades takes a massive amount of time. It is the kind of heavy project that can quickly stall your hobby momentum and leave your new army sitting in boxes. We handled the entire assembly line for this client, so they could skip the grind and jump straight to the high-speed collisions.

Garfield Space Marines – The Lasagna Legion
“Brother Garfield, the lasagna supply ship has been delayed by the Warp.” “Then the galaxy shall burn, Jon.”
Our custom Space Marine kill team crosses the grimdark universe with everyone’s favorite Monday-hating characters. Sometimes you need to take a break from pure serious lore, especially when April 1st rolls around.
Conversion Showcase: Garfield, Jon, Odie, and Nermal
A fun idea is great, but making it a reality with heavy conversion work is the hard part. This squad features complete overhauls. Garfield and Nermal as power-armored battle brothers, Odie as a loyal cyber-mastiff, and Jon Arbuckle leading the fray. From pizza slicer power weapons to lasagna-pattern bolters, we made sure the joke was backed up by high-quality hobbying.
Finding the right bits, sculpting the details, and making sure a joke translates perfectly to the tabletop takes serious effort. You want the models to still look like a legitimate fighting force, just with a very weird agenda. Have a vision for a new squad but afraid you won’t be up to the task? We will realize your idea 1:1.

Drukhari Borderlands Crossover – Welcome to Pandora
“Get ready for bad touch!” The Drukhari finally found a universe as messed up as Commorragh. Welcome to Pandora.
This is a 1-of-1 Borderlands crossover project. The vibe is pure chaotic wasteland raider, slamming the cruel tech of the Dark City right into the dusty, comic-book madness of a looter-shooter.
Custom Kitbashing and Cell-Shaded Painting
To make it the only one of its kind, the models were heavily converted using printed heads, Ork bits, and custom sculpting before hitting that iconic cell-shaded style. Figuring out how to kitbash all those different bits and getting a harsh, comic-style outline perfectly consistent across a whole army takes a ton of patience and recipe testing.
Dropping a fully custom, heavily stylized strike force on the table makes your army the one everyone stops to look at. Your collection deserves a level up. Have a wild idea for a crossover or a heavily stylized paint scheme? We will realize your idea 1:1. See what we can conjure up with your models!

Bring Your Own Ideas to the Tabletop
Let’s be honest. Whether it’s a massive Horus Heresy legion, a highly detailed display centerpiece, these incredible models won’t paint themselves. Staring at a mountain of grey plastic after a long week of work is a quick way to one thing. To stall your hobby momentum and leave your new army sitting in boxes.
We paint, you have the problem off your mind. If you want a standard battle-ready force or a crazy 1-of-1 conversion project, we will realize your idea 1:1. Use our contact form to get a quote, and let’s get your miniatures fully painted and ready for the tabletop!
