Be Inspired Before Entering New Kill Zone
The announcement of a new Kill Team box is always exciting. But the upcoming Kill Team: Tomb World feels special.
Before “Kill Team” was a game system for every faction, it was a title. A death sentence for xenos, delivered by the black-armored marines of the Ordo Xenos. The Deathwatch were the original Kill Team. This new box brings that core concept back into the spotlight, and we couldn’t be more excited.
So, before we get our hands on the new Deathwatch and Necron models, we’ve decided to open our own mission dossier.
We’ve gathered intel on several recent kill teams that have passed through our studio. Consider this your briefing on the diverse forces operating in the kill zones.
Let’s dive in.

Your Inspiration before Kill Team: Tomb World
Kill Team: Typhon – Claws vs. Cogs
A massive boxed set in the same vein as the upcoming Kill Team: Tomb World, Typhon was a brutal clash between ravenous Tyranids and a calculating Battleclade of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Painting this set was a study in contrasts: the organic, unrestrained horror of the Tyranids versus the cold, calculated cybernetics of the Martian priesthood.

Blood and Zeal – Faith vs. Rage
Another huge release, similar in scale to Kill Team: Tomb World, was Blood and Zeal. This box pits two kill teams against each other: the fanatical Imperial cultists known as The Sanctifiers against the cybernetically enhanced Khorne worshippers, The Goremongers.

Wrecka Krew – Kunnin’ and Brutal
You can’t have a good skirmish game without Orks! These Kommandos, play a different game. In the claustrophobic corridors of a space hulk, where a fair fight is a death sentence, their kunnin’ shines.
They’re the masters of the unexpected shiv in the dark and the booby trap left just around the corner, proving that being brutal is good, but being brutal and sneaky is better.

Kasrkins – The Elite of Cadia
When the mission requires surgical precision, not a blunt hammer, the Astra Militarum sends in the Kasrkins.
On the tabletop, they operate less like horde guardsmen and more like a scalpel. Their “Elite” ability allows them to stack powerful doctrines, turning them into a highly adaptable team that can tackle any objective. In a kill zone littered with objectives the Kasrkins are already three moves ahead, executing a flawless, coordinated strike.

Ratlings – The Sharpshooters
There’s nothing more frustrating than a threat you can’t see. That’s the entire gameplay philosophy of the Ratlings.
While your opponent is focused on the main firefight, these sharpshooters are finding the perfect sniper’s nest. They might not be the toughest or the fastest, but they force your opponent to play differently. Every open lane becomes a death trap, and every advance is made with the nagging fear that a key operative is about to get taken out from across the board.

Mandrakes – Shadows and Terror
Straight from the shadows of Commorragh, Mandrakes are pure nightmare fuel.
Their ability to seemingly teleport through shadows makes them impossible to pin down, turning any kill zone with a bit of cover into their personal hunting ground. Playing against them is an exercise in paranoia: you’re never quite sure where the next attack will come from, making every dark corner a potential grave.

Your Kill Team is Waiting for Deployment
Seeing all these elite squads might have sparked an idea for your own perfect Kill Team. But finding the time to paint a full roster to a standard you’re proud of can be tough, especially when you’d rather be playing. That’s where we come in.
Whether you want to replicate a classic scheme for your new Necrons or create something totally unique for your own squad, we can get your team painted and ready for its first mission.
You focus on the strategy; we’ll handle the brushes.
