Know Your Enemy: An Imperial Field Guide to the Major Xenos Factions
Welcome, Adept, to the Ordo Xenos archives. Before you is a sanctioned guide to the major alien threats that plague the Imperium of Man. Understanding the nature of your enemy is the first step toward its eventual annihilation. Study these pict-captures and data-files carefully. While their existence is an affront to the God-Emperor, their methods and aesthetics can, regrettably, be quite… varied. Here is a 40k Xenos Factions guide you can rely on.

A Catalogue of Major Xenos Threats
Herein lies a breakdown of the most commonly encountered xenos species. Each entry is accompanied by pict-captures of professionally rendered facsimiles to aid in battlefield identification.
Aeldari
Threat Profile: Arrogant, Ancient, and Annoying.
The Aeldari, or “space elves” as they are commonly known, are a dying race of immense psychic power and even greater arrogance. They see humanity as noisy children playing with their ancestral toys.
Their armies are fast, fragile, and specialized. The Craftworlders are the most disciplined, floating through space on their giant ships and only intervening when their Farseers predict it will benefit them. The Drukhari are their twisted cousins, sadistic pirates who launch raids from their dark city to capture slaves for their horrific arenas. And then there are the Harlequins, the creepy, enigmatic jesters who serve a laughing god and are best avoided at all costs.

Genestealer Cults
Threat Profile: The Enemy Within.
Of all the threats, this one is the most insidious. A Genestealer Cult grows inside it like a tumor. It starts with a single alien organism and spreads through generations, creating a hidden society of hybrid mutants who worship the Great Devourer.
They are masters of the ambush, rising from sewers and basements to overthrow entire planets from within.
Your most trusted planetary governor? Might be a cultist. The guy who serves your nutrient paste? He’s probably a cultist.
Trust no one.

Leagues of Votann
Threat Profile: Stubborn, Grumpy, and Surprisingly Rich.
These abhumans, colloquially known as “Squats,” are a void-faring race of sturdy miners and engineers. They are notorious for their stubbornness, their love of a good grudge, and their surprisingly advanced technology, which is guided by ancient – and deeply heretical – AI consciousnesses they call Votann.
They are pragmatic to a fault, viewing every conflict through a lens of resource acquisition and score-settling. Do not insult them, and do not get between them and a valuable mineral deposit.

Necrons
Threat Profile: The Galaxy’s sleeping annihilators.
Billions of years ago, the Necrons traded their souls for immortal metal bodies. Now, after a 60-million-year slumber, they are waking up to find the galaxy infested with noisy, fleshy lifeforms.
They want us off their lawn. All of their lawns. Which is basically the entire galaxy. They are silent, relentless, and their technology is so advanced it might as well be magic. When you fight them, you aren’t fighting an army; you’re fighting a tireless, soulless universal law that wants you to cease existing.

Orks
Threat Profile: A Fungal Infection with Anger Management Issues. The Orks are a force of nature. They are a massive, green tide of pure, unthinking violence that lives for the thrill of a good fight. Their technology is cobbled together from scrap and should not work, but it does… because they collectively believe it will. They are loud, crude, and their only plan is to charge forward and hit something. While a single Ork is a dangerous brute, a planet full of them is a problem that usually ends with an Exterminatus order.

T’au Empire
Threat Profile: Deceptively Polite, Extremely Dangerous.
The T’au are a young, optimistic race that believes in a philosophy of unity they call the “Greater Good.” They will invite you to join their enlightened empire with open arms. If you refuse, they will politely vaporize you from the next postal code with their incredibly powerful railguns.
They are technologically advanced, strategically brilliant, and supported by a coalition of alien allies. Do not be fooled by their talk of progress; the only good they are interested in is their own.

Tyranids
Threat Profile: The Great Devourer.
The Tyranids are the ultimate predator of 40k Xenos factions. They are an extragalactic swarm of bio-horrors, guided by a single, terrifying Hive Mind. They do not want your worlds, but the biomass that makes up your worlds. And that includes you.
They are a mindless, endless tide of claws, teeth, and acid that consumes everything in its path to fuel its infinite expansion. You cannot reason with them, bargain with them. You can only hope to kill enough of them before they eat everything.

Choose Your Heresy, Build Your Army
So, which one from 40k xenos factions is it? Whether you prefer the arrogant speed of the Aeldari, the loud violence of the Orks, or the creeping threat of the Genestealer Cults, picking your faction is just the first step.
Now comes the real challenge: getting them ready for the table. You want your force to look as dangerous as it sounds in the lore, not like a sea of unpainted plastic.
We can help you bridge that gap. We will take the specific theme you have in mind—whether it’s official box art or something completely custom—and apply it to your entire collection.
Your army has a backstory. It deserves a paint job that matches it. Write to us!
