For this massive Ork commission, the client wanted the painting quality to reflect the hierarchy of the army itself. The troops are ready for action, but the Warbosses received a completely different level of attention.
We pushed the contrast with deeper shading, intricate brushwork, and heavy weathering effects to show the grit of battle. The defining feature, however, is the lighting. We used extensive Object Source Lighting (OSL) on the energy weapons and engines, creating a vibrant glow that stands out against the grimy armor.
