Warhammer 40k Imperial Knight
Freehand Painting of the Emperor
Where Brute force meets art
There’s something timeless about massive war machines. From real-world tank prototypes to the titanic walking fortresses of Warhammer 40k, size and presence always make an impression. This custom-painted Imperial Knight Warden brings both intimidation and elegance to the tabletop, combining bold heraldry with detailed mechanical elements and hand-painted freehands.
We built this model using the Warden variant, which comes armed with an Avenger Gatling Cannon and Thunderstrike Gauntlet. To add some flexibility, we magnetized the helmet system, allowing the client to swap between different masks depending on the mood or battlefield vibe. The whole build was done with care, but it was the freehand elements that really made it personal.
Our senior artist Kinga added a portrait of the Emperor of Mankind directly onto the shoulder plate. It wasn’t easy, freehand painting on curved armor takes patience, precision and a strong sense of composition. The result is a centerpiece that’s just as impressive from close up as it is across the table.
