We do like special projects and this one is no exception! What you can see here are Ironhead Prospectors. But this time it’s not miniatures that made them special (but they’re stunning too!). The special part of this project is a terrain part of the diorama.

What’s special about this terrain?
This part of the terrain was made out of scratch! The components were from a few different Games Workshop expansions such as Necromunda Zone Mortalis, Necromunda Platforms and Stairs and Kill Team Octarius Terrains and HDF elements. The whole thing was handcrafted by our Assembling Team and then painted by our Artists. What’s the best is the fact that this terrain can serve as a part of diorama and a playable in-game piece as well!

Guardians of the Ash Wastes
The Ironhead Squats are a unique and enigmatic presence on the grim world of Necromunda. Descendants of the Leagues of Votann, these hardy dwarves arrived ten thousand years ago to aid in the world’s reconstruction after the Horus Heresy. While their kin returned to the stars, the Ironheads remained, adapting to their harsh new home.
Today, they roam the desolate Ash Wastes, their colossal Land Trains serving as mobile fortresses and mining operations. These nomadic engineers are driven by an insatiable thirst for treasure, scouring the barren landscape for valuable resources. Their advanced technology and unwavering determination have earned them both respect and fear from the other factions of Necromunda.
A Civilization of Steel and Grit
Life within an Ironhead Laager is a testament to their resilience. These sprawling mining complexes are self-contained ecosystems, providing everything their people need to survive in the harsh environment. From advanced medical bays to towering smelters, the Squats have harnessed their ingenuity to create a life for themselves on the fringe of civilization.
Despite their isolation, the Ironheads are deeply intertwined with the politics and economy of Necromunda. Their trade in precious metals and rare minerals is essential to the survival of the Hive City, and their advanced technology is coveted by all. However, they are cautious people, wary of outsiders and fiercely protective of their territory.
Guardians of Ancient Lore
The Ironheads maintain a deep connection to their Votann heritage. At the heart of their society is the Votann Ancestor Core, a repository of ancient knowledge and cultural traditions. This sacred artifact is the cornerstone of their identity and a symbol of their enduring spirit.
In the remote wastes, the Ironheads have established twelve ancestral forts, remnants of their original landing sites. These fortified outposts serve as both a testament to their history and a strategic defense against potential threats. While they spend most of the year exploring the Ash Wastes, the Ironheads always return to their ancestral homes to honor their heritage and reinforce their bonds as a clan.
The Ironhead Squats are more than just miners; they are survivors, engineers, and guardians of a forgotten past. Their story is one of resilience, ingenuity, and a deep-rooted connection to their ancestral home. As they continue to explore the unforgiving Ash Wastes, their legend grows, making them a force to be reckoned with in the dangerous world of Necromunda.
